BREAKIN'

I have a confession. I love bad movies. I love crappy movies. I love cheesy movies. I love ridiculous movies. If it won an Academy Award I won't watch it.I don't know why but I won't.

My wife's suggestion that we subscribe to NETFLIX is finally paying off. Good for me, bad for her. Because now I don't have to dream about watching Breakin'...I can watch it forever, twice a day!

This movie is awesome...if you can ignore the tight pants and leotards on the men in some of the scenes. You gotta remember it was the 80's. And you might want to close your eyes during the dance scenes that have "awkward man crotch" shots in them. Other than that it's great because of the break dancing! It even has a young Ice- T in it rapping like I did when I was in 3rd grade. You know, trying to force words together/ off beat rapping.

But here is a taste of what you will see...if your bored and can't think of anything good to watch. And the acting is better than what you saw in Twilight you jive turkey!

NINTENDO POWER!

A couple of nights ago Benjamin and I bonded over a game of Super Mario Bros. 2 on the original NES. That's right. I still own the gray box that my sister and I received nearly 20 years ago and it still works. But I came up short and lost all of my lives on the last stage of the second to last level (7). It was hard back then and it's still almost impossible to beat. I thought I would be better with age. But I am very proud to say that even though Ben can't count to 20, he can make it all the way to level 3 on Super Mario Bros. 2 on his own! (wipes tear from eye)

Fiesta Bowl Highlights

Yes Leslie Lott I am addicted to YOU TUBE and I should be working on a major history paper as well. But I am one of those annoying BSU fans that has to live in the past and re-watch this game.

Dick Butkus, Mike Curtis and Dickie Post

Dickie Post

Mike Curtis

These are a few players I idolized in high school. Too bad I was an undersized offensive lineman during my playing days.

Halloween Part 2 !

Jamie holds Parker tightly in a loving embrace as he tries to flee from the backing mini-van.

Jamie: "Are we done yet?!"
Leslie: (sigh)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Afros

You know somethings wrong when the ghosts feel safer than cartoon characters.

Calie is surprised by something. Leslie is pretending to be Rambo. Look at those socks!

HALLOWEEN

Ben the Ninja Turtle. Parker the Batman. Cooper the Wizard. Ryan the Straight "A" Student w/ a car. It was a night of pretending and imagination.

Ben warming up on the Lott's trampoline.

Jamie (Sister in Law) and Calie. The horns are real.

Ben and The Great Pumpkin!

Ben at the door. Man, Parker is white!!!

Can you believe I had a psychology class on Halloween night?! If my professor is as good at reading people as he says he is he must have felt the whole class burning a whole through him the longer he talked and talked and talked. I was able to sneak out during our "first break". I wasn't there for the Trick or Treating but everyone had fun and there were no injuries! A big thanks must be given to the Lott's who always allow us invade their home and leave it a disaster. Big thanks to Kurt for watching Ben and Parker as I left for class and big thanks to Leslie for leading the troops through the labyrinth of homes.

Ben the Polliwog

Ben standing by his Dragon Slide by the kiddie pool.

Ben with his hippie swimming instructor Dylan. At first we were worried that Ben might be too afraid of the water but Dylan, who has an awesome personality, has helped Ben feel safe and he looks forward to every lesson.

Ben, along with his fellow Polliwogs, listen intently to instructions...I hope.

Ben being Ben.

For the past month Ben has been attending swimming lessons at the YMCA that Calie lifeguards at. I haven't been able to attend because of my class schedule but from what it sounds like Ben is really advancing. He can now jump into the pool, put his face in the water, hold his breath, and kick his legs. This should come in handy when I wash his hair during bath time.

Mystery!

This is to the opening of a PBS program that I used to watch in highschool called Mystery! The illustrations are by Edward Gorey. He's pretty much my inspiration when it comes to my art. Speaking of my art, I also put up another piece entitled "Hamlet".

My Wife...The Addict!

About a couple of months ago my wife was seduced by the dark side of craft making. Uppercase Living has invaded our home. Cute little sayings in vinyl lettering are appearing everywhere I look! If anything else gets labeled our place will look like the Bat Cave of the 60's! But she did a great job on the Halloween sign, don't you think?

Calie's Birthday!

Calie and Jamie waiting for their turn on earth. The world would never be the same...and neither would my blood pressure.

28 years ago yesterday Calie came to us from Heaven. We forgot to take pictures of her actual birthday festivities. We were just trying to leave before Jamie could change her mind about watching the boys. We went to the Olive Garden for a couple of hours away from the chaos. The time flew.

XANADU: Part 2

I have a feeling that many of you don't believe me when I tell you how awfully awesome this movie is. If you have 3 minutes and 49 seconds you should check it out....

WARNING! This video may become addictive and cause you to view it at least once a day. Mike Lozano will not be responsible for how awesome you will become for having watched it.

Disclaimer!

Over the past week since deciding to create this blog I have encountered some questions about my, umm, "manliness".

My wife has also wondered why everyone elses blog includes family photo's and updates and why mine has a movie review. So to appease her here are some photos (above and below). Enjoy!

Ben loves the camera!

Xanadu

Last night, after a long day at school, I returned to my family and our "convicted felon out on parole" apartment complex. I kicked off my Target brand XJ- 900's, threw my backpack in a corner, and watched one of the greatest movies EVER! Rarely does one ever experience a life change through means of viewing a movie. Well I did. And I have Olivia Newton- John and ELO to thank for it. Thank you Xanadu.

If you like music, dancing, roller skates, bad special effects, no story line, confusing dialogue, acting that embarrasses you, animated birds that wear leg warmers, feeling sorry for Gene Kelly, and a glowing Olivia Newton- John...then this movie is for you.

In case your wondering. I really did like it. Seriously.

I bet you didn't know...

A couple of weeks ago I was given the opportunity to work w/ the Boise State Broncos in helping create their 2008 Big Board Opener. A friend of mine in my ward, by the name of John Smith, invited me to assist in his directing of the 3 night shoot. And yes his name is really John Smith. I'm the big guy on the far left pretending to know what I'm doing.

To See the final product go here...http://www.dtx.us.com/reviews/bsuopen/

Ian Johnson makes jumping onto cushions look really cool.

The wait is over!

Because many of you (I think it was 3) wanted me to create a blog I have decided to grant you your wish. Right now I don't have much to say. I'm sure something will come to my mind a little later but who can concentrate w/ college football beginning to start?
